Marty Ferraioli, LCSW

Hello, my name is Marty, and I am an LCSW in the State of Virginia. I use evidence-based techniques tailored to your personal needs. I believe in authenticity and transparency, and I bring these values to the work I provide to my clients.

  • I believe in client-centered work, which focuses on each client’s unique strengths to improve optimal wellness. I believe in a compassionate and creative approach to helping my clients address their symptoms, allowing my clients to become engaged in sessions within the virtual setting. I use various tools, including humor, videos, books, and articles, to present concepts tangibly. Therapy should be an opportunity to explore your inner world. I think therapy is a time of valuable self-exploration to move toward your best Self.

I have worked closely with individuals and families to address symptoms related to boundaries, difficulties in communication, stress, anxiety, parenting, school refusal, and life transitions. My clients generally have a history of trauma, including sexual assault, incest, or abuse. I work closely with clients who present with symptoms of ADHD, anxiety, and depression in a non-judgmental, supportive, and affirming environment.

  • Therapy is an opportunity for self-exploration. There are no “quick fixes,” miracle cures, or guarantees of desired resolution. At times in the therapeutic environment, you may experience uncomfortable levels of sadness, anxiety, guilt, anger, or other emotions. While I cannot do the work for you, I will be with you every step, offering a safe space, free of judgment, where you can freely express your thoughts and emotions. My clients find that I am responsive and genuinely care about their progress, it’s not uncommon for a client to receive a text message checking in with them or a random email asking them how their day went.

  • I believe too much emphasis is placed upon the notion that one can be “totally zen,” in reality, we are all humans. In my quest to be the best human I can be, I have developed the ability to view my past traumas as a transformative experience. Healing is a journey that allows me to be more present with my clients as I continue to use the skills I teach in session in my daily life. Continued healing– is a practice.

  • I engage with my clients to collaborate, empowering them as they recognize their personal strengths and discover meaning in their challenges. I welcome feedback from my clients, and I encourage the timely completion of measures to help track the severity of symptoms over time. During our time together, you will be offered psycho-educational resources and instruction, practical skills, and develop manageable short-term goals. I view therapy sessions as a valuable time of self-discovery, healing, and growth.

  • During our first session, we will gather background information and review treatment goals and expectations for therapy. Together, we will dive into the specific challenges you are facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

  • I obtained my Master’s in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), where I focused on clinical social work and school social work. I have been clinically trained in providing trauma informed care by the Arizona Trauma Institute. I have served the LBGTQIA+ community here in Fredericksburg, Virginia providing support to clients who have been diagnosed with HIV and providing counseling to transgender clients.

I am married with children, have two loveable dogs, I enjoy cooking, hiking, British television, mysteries and crime drama. Please reach out with any questions you might have to find out more about me and how we can work together to meet your personal wellness goals.

  • I use a creative approach to the evidence-based practices, engaging our clients in understanding the relationships between thoughts, emotions and behaviors to initiate positive change to thwart the unhelpful thinking traps that keep clients stuck and hold them back from achieving goals, moving forward and feeling more positive about themselves.

  • I help clients engage in greater self-awareness of feelings and thoughts, helping them move through emotional situations more easily. This can allow them to engage with others in healthier ways, including setting healthy emotional boundaries. This creative approach aids clients in achieving a more regulated emotional wellbeing.

  • I use a trauma-informed approach allows clients to safely explore and understand how their past experiences influence their current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. This can allow clients to begin moving through their past traumas, crafting a new narrative and repairing their unhealed, fractured selves.

  • QB Tech Adult ADHD Testing is an evidence-based assessment process designed to help evaluate symptoms associated with ADHD by measuring attention, impulsivity, and activity level through a computerized test and motion tracking technology. This service is intended for adults only and includes a $125 initial consultation, $250 for the test, and $150 for the written report.
